Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using OpenShelf ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Description of Service

OpenShelf provides AI-generated book summaries, quizzes, flashcards, audio narration, and interactive book chat features. Content is generated using artificial intelligence and should be considered educational summaries, not replacements for reading original works.

AI-Generated Content

All summaries, quizzes, flashcards, and chat responses are generated by AI (OpenAI GPT-4o). While we strive for accuracy:

• AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies
• Summaries are interpretations, not verbatim reproductions
• Content should not be cited as authoritative sources
• We make no guarantees about completeness or accuracy

User-Uploaded Content

When you upload books or documents:

• You represent that you have the right to upload and process the content
• We process files in memory only and do not store source documents
• Generated summaries may be cached and made available to other users
• You are responsible for ensuring you do not violate copyright law

Subscriptions & Payments

OpenShelf offers optional premium subscriptions managed through Apple's App Store:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID Account Settings
• Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policy

Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code, and original content are owned by Futuron Inc. Book titles, author names, and cover descriptions belong to their respective rights holders. AI-generated summaries are derivative works created for educational purposes under fair use principles.

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Use the App to reproduce or distribute copyrighted works in full
• Attempt to access our servers or APIs outside the App
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose

Limitation of Liability

OpenShelf is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Futuron Inc shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
